Friday, April 22 – Join us for a panel discussion after the show featuring East LA Community Corporation President, Isela Gracian, along with other community organizations and residents as they share their stories and discuss the effects of gentrification.
ISELA GRACIAN has led ELACC’s strategic and operational planning efforts since 2010. She is distinguished as an authority among Los Angeles area equitable community development and anti-displacement leadership.
Sunday, April 24 – Panel discussion with George Sanchez and Alfredo Huante.
GEORGE J. SANCHEZ is an award-winning scholar of Chicano history and immigration as well as the director of the USC Center for Diversity and Democracy. He is the former director of American studies and ethnicity, a program he helped build into one of the top American and ethnic studies departments in the nation.
ALFREDO HUANTE is a Sociology PhD candidate. Huante’s scholarship focuses on the intersection of race and class in the areas of land use and economic development in Los Angeles generally and Boyle Heights specifically.
