Lorca In A Green Dress

July 20, 2012 - August 26, 2012

At CASA 0101 Theater

CASA 0101 Theater is proud to present, in association with The Center For Collaboration with the Arts at Whittier College, Pulitzer-winning playwright Nilo Cruz’ Lorca In A Green Dress.  In this surrealistic journey the great Spanish poet, Federico Garcia Lorca, arrives in the “Lorca Room” in Purgatorio, a room of the soul, where he must spend 40 days of mourning following his murder at the hands of Spanish fascists.  Five different actors portray aspects of the poet’s personality in a surrealistic landscape that questions what it means to die, to live, to create and to love.  The cast also includes a Flamenco dancer and guitarist who will perform original improvised instrumental music.  This particular production will also feature original music composed by Christopher Davis with original lyrics penned by Nilo Cruz.

...beautiful, creative staging allows the actors to magically transform the stage from a sea to a truck to a Spanish childhood home to New York City and back again using only their bodies. - Backstage
