Let us remember and embrace our roots so we can know who we are and soar into the future.

Remembering Boyle Heights Part 2 is the second half of a theatrical celebration inspired by the diverse stories, memories and experiences of Boyle Heights history and monumental events shaping the community from the 1940’s to present day. The focus and attention will be from the point of view and or lens of Her-story. The production will be part scripted and part devised theatre, working with text, stories, improvisations in a very collaborative process with the writer, director and the ensemble.

Born in Acapulco, Mexico Alejandro was raised by his single mother, she had him at 15 yrs old. They migrated to Southern California when he was 2 years old. Alejandro grew up all through North & East Los Angeles. He got involved in a short film SILENCIO in 2011 and has been acting ever since. Theatre is an important experience for his craft, his humanity and is honored to be working with Casa 0101. He resides in Culver City. *Member of Actors’ Equity Association

Born and raised east of Los Angeles, Tricia Cruz is the youngest of a single-parent family. Like many extraordinary women, her mother Maria fled her native Mexico to give the family freedom and opportunity. Of her upbringing, Tricia says, “I am very lucky and proud to have been brought up in America with my rich Mexican culture which has enabled me to dig deep into my experiences to give life to characters that anyone can relate to”. Melodee Fernández (Lucha Reyes/Ensemble) is thrilled to join CASA0101 in Remembering Boyle Heights II. She performed Juana in Ed Begley, Jr.’s Cesar and Ruben, and Granny in Theatre West’s Little Red Riding Hood. She is the director, lead teaching artist and featured soloist for the LA Opera Zarzuela Project. Melodee performed with Ópera Cómica de Madrid in a national tour of Spain and was featured with the Bilingual Foundation of the Arts, Comedy Central, Santa Barbara Opera, Opera Pacific and Zoo District Theatre. At CASA she was music director, Real Women Have Curves: The Musical; vocal director, Eastside Heartbeats; vocal coach, Free Los Tres, Masao and the Bronze Nightingale. She’s president of NATS-Los Angeles and a proud USC School of Music alum. (AEA, AGMA) *Member of Actors’ Equity Association

Was born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico. He’s been living in the US for almost 5 years and he recently got his MFA in acting at USC. Oscar is very happy to work in this production at Casa 0101 and he is vey exited to keep working in the Latino theater in LA.

Former Nat’l Teen LEGO Champion of his native Philippines, he appeared here as Cogsworth in Beauty & the Beast. The only returnee from the original cast of Remembering Boyle Heights 1, he is proud and ecstatic to be part of this unique & wonderful cast to continue telling stories of the BH saga. Was recently seen in the musical “LA Now & Then” (Group Rep), and worked in “No Matter Watt (as Prod. Asst.) during Hollywood Fringe Festival 2022. Some favorite stage roles include: King Mongkut (King & I), Lord Abe (Pacific Overtures), Lion (Wizard of Oz) & Engineer (Miss Saigon). Also, originated roles of Falstaff (Quill&Ink, Pan Andreas Theater), Soldier1 (MARCH, Playwright’sArena) & Capt. Matsuoka (FUGU, WestCoastJewishTheater). Dedicates his performance to parents Dr.Steve Mendoza and Mrs.Lolita Blanchard. Edie Pilar Monroy (They / Her) is a world-explorer, magickal facilitator toward our collective liberation, and actor extraordinaire with a taste for fanciful flair, improvisation, and accents. They embrace the magick of the Universe, creating a deep, loving relationship with nature and the flow of everyday life, simultaneously sussing out the deep-seated patriarchal oppressions that limit us all, particularly BIPoC females. Edie is a born and raised New Yorker. They graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and Baruch College. Currently, Edie trains at The Groundlings, flexing her improv-muscles. Leslie Montoya is a Chicana born and raised in the city of Los Angeles. She is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree and majoring in Mass Communications at California State University, Los Angeles. She started acting at Casa 0101 in 2012 and thanks to acting coaches Eddie Padilla and Corky Dominguez, she knew she wanted to work in entertainment. Leslie has expanded her knowledge of the entertainment industry by interning at companies like Verve Talent & Literary Agency, Live Nation’s Music Forward, SAG-AFTRA and many more. She currently works for Power 106 with Dj Felli Fel and Dejah Boo and teaches dance classes to youth at Cypress Park. Leslie hopes to one day have her own radio show on Power 106 and a non-profit dance studio in Boyle Heights.

Lorena Rubio is a latina actress born and raised in south central Los Angeles. She took an interest in acting while she attended college at UCSC. As soon as she got her bachelors degree she started using her theatrical tactics to join marketing jobs and it opened doors to many opportunities in the field. She also wants to contribute to low income communities in Latin America annually by donating clothes and food to those affected by natural disasters. In spite of everything she believes that theater can guide young actors to a brighter future.

Raquel Salinas is a cultural artist dedicated to helping our community heal through the arts. She gives voice to those seldom heard through her writing and theater workshops. Raquel has been working as an actor, writer and solo performer with companies such as Teada Productions,Co.of Angels, Casa 0101, Highways Performance Space and Whitefire Theater to name a few. Raquel was recently seen in”Thriving” Season X of Chicanas Cholas y Chisme @Casa 0101 this past season. She is proud to be part of this production of Boyle HeightsII and this ensemble process. It brings back memories of her theater experience of the Chicano Theater movement where she worked with El Teatro De La Esperanza, Teatro Primavera and Teatro Aztlan where ensemble work was key. He recently graduated from USC from the Dramatic Arts Dept. with honours. Adam has been in a handful of live theatrical shows and has also done film projects. You can see him in the movie “Ham on Rye” on Amazon Prime Video, and in the music video “Monterrey” by TW Walsh. Adam is a dedicated hard-working actor with strong patience and will do his absolute best with any given task.
